WHERE
DO STUDENTS LIVE?
West Campus
is the place to be! Not only can you can walk to class from any
property on West Campus, but there is also a large variety of both
old and new houses, apartments, and condos. West Campus houses the
Greek system and many other social organizations at UT. Since the
area is almost entirely populated by students, something is always
going on. Restaurants and shops are all aimed toward students so
you can find food at any hour for either a study break or a late
night snack with your friends!
North Campus is a
great alternative to West Campus for those who want to remain close
without living in the middle of everything. North Campus offers
a mixture of houses, condos, and apartments in cute, intimate neighborhoods
that provide a true "Austin" feel. Most of the North campus
is still within walking distance to campus but there are always
buses available to help speed up the trip.
Tarrytown/Enfield
is more of a peaceful area to live in with its older houses and
smaller apartment complexes. UT has shuttles that run through this
area to so that you don't have to deal with the hassle of driving.
This area has a great neighborhood feel that is still located close
to campus, downtown, and Lake Austin.
Downtown is an exciting
place to live in Austin. You can live within walking distance to
both 6th Street and Town Lake. Living downtown offers you the feel
of living in a city by giving you the ability to walk to restaurants
and shops. This area has many funky lofts and cute apartments that
still provide a cool downtown vibe.
Far West is further
away from the central Austin but UT has many shuttles that run through
this area to campus. The apartments and houses are a little older
which means many of the prices very appealing!
The Arboretum is located
off of Highway 360 and Mopac and boasts modern accommodations with
great amenities at a lower rate than Central Austin. This area is
full of shops and restaurants and is a fairly short drive away from
campus life.
Riverside area is
located east off I-35 and is home to the largest absorption of undergrads
around Austin. Riverside has 5 UT shuttles that run as quickly as
every 7 minutes. Riverside offers much lower rental rates and an
entire community of students. This area is filled with many large
complexes that are fairly new and offer great amenities, such as
roommate matching, individual leases, bills paid, as well as pools,
volleyball courts and workout facilities.
